Indian man arrested for allegedly killing live-in partner using pressure cooker

Local authorities have arrested a man for allegedly killing his live-in partner by striking her on the head with a pressure cooker. The incident took place in the Mico layout area of Begur, South Bengaluru.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Deva, originally from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The accused, Vaishnav, also a native of Kerala from the Kollam district, is currently under arrest and undergoing interrogation by Bengaluru Police.

The couple had been living together in a rented apartment in Begur for the last two years and had known each other since their college days. Vaishnav, employed as a marketing executive at a local firm, had been on the run after the alleged incident. He was later located and arrested by police.

According to the police, the couple was known to have frequent verbal disagreements, a claim that has been corroborated by some of their neighbors. However, no prior complaints had been filed by either party.

CK Baba, DCP of South Bengaluru Police, said, “Both the persons were living in the same house for the last two years. They are both from Kerala. On the day of the incident, they had an argument, and Vaishnav allegedly hit Deva with a pressure cooker while cooking.”

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Sunday. The police have registered a case under section 302, which pertains to murder, and the interrogation is ongoing.
