The Philippines’ quest for the Miss Grand International crown continues as CJ Opiaza finished as 1st runner-up in the 2024 competition. The title went to India’s Rachel Gupta, who bested 68 other contestants during the coronation night in Thailand.
Gupta impressed the judges with her answer in the Top 5 Q&A portion, addressing global poverty and calling for world leaders to take responsibility. She emphasized the need for birth control methods and resource distribution to combat overpopulation and scarcity.
Myanmar’s Thae Su Nyein secured 2nd runner-up, followed by France’s Safiétou Kabengele and Brazil’s Talita Hartmann as 3rd and 4th runners-up, respectively.
Special awards for the event included Best in Evening Gown for Ghana and Best in Swimsuit for Brazil. Last year’s Philippine delegate, Nikki de Moura, did not make it past the first round of the 2023 pageant.
