Iglesia Ni Cristo to hold nationwide ‘peace rally’ in Davao City on January 13

The Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) is set to hold a Nationwide Peace Rally on Monday, January 13, drawing an estimated 300,000 members to the city’s San Pedro Square and key streets.

The City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) announced road closures for the event, with a dry run scheduled on January 11 and 12. Streets affected on January 13 include San Pedro, Bolton, Pelayo, Inigo, Rizal, and Claveria, according to CTTMO head Ret. Col. Dionisio Abude during the Davao Peace and Security Press Corps Forum.

The 20th City Council, led by Vice Mayor Melchor Quitain, expressed its support for the rally through a resolution passed on January 7. Councilor Diosdado Mahipus Jr., the resolution’s author, emphasized that the event reflects the INC’s commitment to promoting peace in the country.

To ensure public safety, the CTTMO will deploy 200 personnel, while the Davao City Police Office will assign 400 officers to secure the rally, which will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
