‘I was very excited to have her,’ says Heart Evangelista on losing her anticipated daughter

Kapuso Global Fashion Icon Heart Evangelista shared in the ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ her recent heartbreak over losing what she thought would be her first daughter. The star clarified that she was not pregnant in the traditional sense, but was hopeful about the viability of her last egg, which she had affectionately named Sophia Heart.

“I was expecting my only girl that I had left — eggs,” Evangelista explained. “So at that time, I was, I thought it was gonna make it, but she didn’t so that one was a bit hard for me.”

The loss came after Evangelista’s hopeful announcement in February, during which she expressed that if there was ever a right time for her to be blessed with a baby, “it should be now.” Her optimism was reflected in the preparations she made for the arrival of Sophia Heart, sharing that she felt everything they had been through was finally leading to this moment.

“I was very excited to have her,” Evangelista said, holding back tears. “I thought I was going to be able to share what I do with my last girl.”

The devastating news of the loss came just before she and her husband, Chiz Escudero, were set to renew their vows, adding to the emotional weight of the moment. Evangelista expressed her grief not over unmet desires, but over the difficulty of her journey to motherhood.

“I’m just sad because, of course, I was excited, but I’m not complaining,” she stated. “I’m so blessed in so many other ways. How can I complain?”

Her husband, Chiz Escudero, offered words of comfort and faith, suggesting that something even better might be planned for them in the future. “If it’s not now, if it’s not this, may mas Baganda pang naka-plano. Intaying lang namin yon,” he said, reinforcing their shared acceptance of God’s will.

Heart has been open about her struggles with fertility in the past, having suffered a miscarriage in 2018 where she lost twins.
