‘I take full responsibility’: Influencer Josh Mojica speaks out after viral driving video

Influencer and entrepreneur Josh Mojica has issued a public apology following the Land Transportation Office’s (LTO) decision to suspend his driver’s license for 90 days after he was caught using a cellphone while driving a Porsche sports car on a highway—an incident that quickly drew criticism online.

In a statement released on July 7, Mojica addressed his followers and the public, saying, “I’m not here to play victim. I’m here to own it.” He confirmed receiving a Show Cause Order from the LTO and admitted to the violation. “That was my mistake. I take full responsibility,” he wrote, adding that he understands the weight of being a public figure.

The video that led to the suspension showed Mojica taking a selfie while behind the wheel, which LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II described as “a clear violation of road safety rules.” The agency cited him for three offenses: reckless driving, violating the Anti-Distracted Driving Act, and being deemed an “Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle,” the last of which carries the possibility of full license revocation.

The LTO also flagged the Porsche under alarm and summoned both the driver and the vehicle’s registered owner to explain why they shouldn’t face administrative charges.

Mojica, in his statement, acknowledged the moment as one of excitement and pride. “It was me, recording a quick selfie inside a Porsche. Not to show off, but to lock in a moment I never thought I’d reach this early,” he explained, calling the luxury car a milestone of his hard work and persistence. However, he admitted that even during celebrations, one must “stay sharp.”

He also addressed the youth directly: “Don’t copy my mistake. Don’t copy the driving. Copy the mindset. Copy the grind.”

Calling the situation “a lesson in accountability,” Mojica promised to focus on growth and improvement. “I’m not perfect, I’m just committed to being better than I was yesterday,” he added.
