How to renew your Philippine passport at the Consulate in Dubai

Renewing your passport in Dubai as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) requires proper preparation and knowledge of the current procedures set by the Philippine Consulate General (PCG). Here’s a straightforward step-by-step guide to help you navigate the process efficiently.

Step 1: Book your appointment online

Passport renewal at the Philippine Consulate in Dubai is strictly by appointment. Walk-ins are not allowed unless under emergency circumstances.

Visit the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai’s official website or the designated VFS Global portal.

Select “Passport Renewal” and choose an available date and time.

Provide your personal details accurately.

Once confirmed, you will receive an email with a QR code and appointment details. Print this out and bring it with you on the day of your appointment.

Note: It is advisable to renew your passport at least 6 to 12 months before its expiration.

Step 2: Prepare all required documents

Before your appointment date, gather the following:

Printed appointment confirmation with QR code

Accomplished e-passport application form (downloadable from the PCG Dubai website)

Original current passport and photocopies of the data page and UAE visa page

PSA-authenticated birth certificate (for verification of personal details)

PSA-authenticated marriage certificate (for female applicants who have changed their last name due to marriage)

Additional documents may be required if:

You are renewing an old brown or green passport

You are a dual citizen

You are reporting a lost or stolen passport

You are applying for a minor below 18 years old

Always check the latest requirements on the Consulate’s website before your appointment.

Step 3: Arrive at the consulate on your scheduled date

Arrive at least 15 minutes before your appointment time.

Proceed to the Passport Processing Cabin and submit your old passport in the designated drop box.

Wait for your name to be called for verification of documents.

After the verification, you will be directed to the cashier for payment.

Step 4: Pay the passport renewal fee

The renewal fee is AED 240 for regular processing.

For lost passports or special cases, the fee may be higher.

Pay the fee in cash. Keep the official receipt as it will be required when claiming your new passport.

Step 5: Proceed to biometric data capture

After payment, you will proceed to the encoding area.

Your biometrics, digital photo, and signature will be captured.

You will be asked to verify your encoded details before submission. Make sure all information is correct to avoid delays or errors.

Step 6: Wait for passport processing and release

Processing time is approximately 4 to 8 weeks.

You will be notified once your new passport is ready for release.

Check the Consulate’s website for passport release updates using your receipt number.

Step 7: Claim your new passport

Return to the Consulate to claim your new passport. Bring your old passport and the official receipt.

If someone else is claiming it for you, they must present an authorization letter, a valid ID, the receipt, and your old passport.
