Erniely Amorganda, a 36-year-old Finance Manager at Startstone DMCC in Dubai, has been working abroad for 8 years now.
Her determination and goal-driven attitude led her to pursue her career abroad and work for a high-paying job.
Erniely has been through various challenges before she landed her current job, including failing the CPA board exam on her first attempt, struggling with anxiety, and experiencing difficulties finding comfort as an OFW in Dubai.
However, she overcame those challenges and achieved her goals.
Erniely started her career in 2008 in an accounting firm in Makati, working in the accounting department.
During audit season, she helped the auditors with field work, even though she wasn’t a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) at that time.
Being around auditors made her realize that she needed to become a CPA for the sake of her credibility since they deal with clients.
She took the board exam again and passed it on her second attempt.
The road to passing the board exam was not easy for Erniely, as she was working full time in an actuarial firm in Makati while reviewing for the exam.
Juggling work and review caused her to develop anxiety, which affected her daily life. Nevertheless, she was victorious in the end and passed the board in 2012, and was even offered a job at Shell Business Center in Makati.
Embarking on a new journey in Dubai
Erniely left Shell in March 2015 to explore Dubai.
She encountered difficulties adjusting to her new environment, as most OFWs do during their first six to 12 months abroad.
She experienced sadness, loneliness, and the stress of finding comfort similar to what she was used to back home.
However, Dubai helped her overcome her anxiety and allowed her to be more mindful and stronger.
In May 2018, Erniely landed her current job as a Finance Manager at Startstone DMCC in Jumeira Lake Towers. She considers this her longest job and is grateful to have it, as it offers a flexible working schedule, a good salary, a stress-free workplace, and a kind boss. Erniely is passionate about her job and enjoys the flexibility it offers to work from home.
Despite her busy work schedule, Erniely used to volunteer with Dubai Cares, participate in walk/run events for causes, and was part of PICPA Dubai as an officer in charge of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Currently, she devotes her time to growing her e-commerce business, selling skincare and cosmetics from the Philippines and Korea.
Erniely’s mantra in life is “Let Your Faith Be Bigger Than Your Fear.”
This positive outlook on life allowed her to overcome her challenges and achieve her goals. Her determination, resilience, and willingness to take risks are admirable and serve as an inspiration to others who want to pursue their dreams.
