For many overseas workers, building a career abroad often means putting passions on hold. But for 29-year-old Yousef Domingo Adil, it became a path to discovering his deeper purpose—not just in the luxury jewelry industry, but also as an artist whose voice now echoes far beyond the borders of Qatar.
Currently working as a Jewelry Advisor at Darwish Holding, Yousef has spent the last nine years abroad balancing a thriving profession with an equally powerful passion: music. “I radiate positivity, embrace every opportunity, and trust the journey ahead,” he shares with TGFM, and true enough, every step of his journey reflects that mindset.
From stage lights to showcases
Originally from the Philippines, Yousef was no stranger to performing. He was once a proud member of the La Salle Singing Society, actively taking part in stage productions and vocal competitions. “Back then, I was honing my vocal skills and stage presence,” he recalls. But like many Filipinos, he decided to work abroad after college to pursue better opportunities. “Working abroad has provided better financial opportunities, and it’s been both a challenging and fulfilling experience,” he explains.

Qatar became his new home, and although his first job wasn’t in the arts, he stayed committed to personal growth. In the fast-paced world of luxury jewelry, Yousef found a rewarding and stable career. But even as he succeeded professionally, his passion for music never truly faded. It waited patiently, resurfacing when the time—and courage—felt right.
When a quiet spark becomes a fire
“In 2022, something inside me reignited—like a fire that had been smoldering for years,” Yousef shares. That year, he made the bold decision to represent Qatar at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in the United States, marking a major turning point in his creative journey.
The WCOPA wasn’t just another competition for Yousef—it was a personal awakening. “I found myself surrounded by like-minded individuals who shared the same burning passion for music,” he says. “The experience was more than just a competition; it was a journey of self-discovery and growth.” Despite having experienced countless rejections in past auditions back home, his perseverance led him to a global stage, proving to himself that his dream was still very much alive.
That momentum didn’t stop when he returned to Qatar. Soon after, he won the Grand Championship title at the Royal Clash Singing Competition, a moment that significantly boosted his confidence and paved the way for even more opportunities. “That win was a huge affirmation that I was on the right path,” he says.
One of the most exciting developments in his career was the formation of MYK, a vocal trio that has since been gaining traction in Qatar. “We’ve been blessed with several projects, and one of our latest was hosting for Sinag Digital Media Qatar,” Yousef says, now also proudly a part of the platform as an artist and host.
A voice for Filipino talent abroad
Beyond personal success, Yousef is driven by a bigger dream: to create a space where Filipino talent is recognized and celebrated in Qatar. “My goal is to build a strong community of Filipino artists here, where we can showcase our talents on the global stage,” he explains. “Music has the power to unite and foster pride among us. I want to help bridge cultural gaps by introducing Filipino music to wider audiences.”

He envisions a future where Filipino artists are not just performers abroad, but cultural ambassadors, representing the richness of Philippine heritage through their craft. His advocacy goes beyond the stage—it’s about creating visibility, building networks, and giving back.
“Ultimately, I want to strengthen the Filipino presence in Qatar, ensuring our voices are heard and respected in every corner of the country,” he adds.
Words for those still finding their rhythm
For fellow overseas Filipinos who may be struggling or losing touch with their passions, Yousef offers heartfelt advice: “Enjoy every moment of this journey, no matter how challenging it may seem. The sacrifices we make today are stepping stones to a better future.”
He also reminds them not to neglect their inner selves. “Don’t let the demands of work overshadow your dreams. Take time to nurture your talents, connect with your roots, and embrace the opportunities that come your way,” he urges.
For him, being an OFW is not just about sending money home—it’s about evolving, healing, and rediscovering purpose. “Our journey as OFWs isn’t just about providing for our families, it’s also about growing, learning, and discovering the limitless potential within ourselves.”
