Household helpers in NCR to get P800 pay hike under new wage order

A revised wage order will change how much household workers earn in Metro Manila beginning next month, setting a higher monthly floor for those employed in private homes across the capital region.

The National Wages and Productivity Commission said the new rate was approved through Wage Order No. NCR-DW-06, signed on 15 January 2026, raising the minimum monthly pay for domestic workers in the National Capital Region from P7,000 to P7,800. The adjustment becomes effective on 7 February 2026, following the required publication period.

In issuing the order, the wage board cited a combination of factors, noting that “existing socio-economic conditions in the region, the needs of the domestic workers and their families, as well as the employers’ capacity to pay” warranted an increase in the prevailing rate.

The updated minimum applies to both live-in and live-out domestic workers who regularly perform household duties for a single employer. This includes general househelpers, nannies, cooks, gardeners, laundry workers, and others engaged in similar domestic roles on an occupational basis.

Family drivers, service providers, and individuals hired only on an occasional or irregular basis are excluded from the wage adjustment.

The new domestic worker rate was issued shortly after a P50 increase in the daily minimum wage for other workers in the National Capital Region took effect.
