Hontiveros slams ‘falsehoods’ from ex-witness in Quiboloy Senate hearings, hints at legal action

Senator Risa Hontiveros on Tuesday condemned what she called “falsehoods” being spread by a former witness in the Senate hearings on the alleged crimes of televangelist Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

In a strongly worded statement, Hontiveros denied the recent claims made by an individual who identified as a former witness, asserting that all testimonies previously presented during the hearings were given voluntarily and backed by documentation.

“KASINUNGALINGAN ang mga alegasyong ngayon mula sa nagpakilalang dating testigo,” she said, emphasizing that there is “sangkatérba ang ebidensya” or overwhelming evidence to disprove the new narrative.

She also noted that these claims are contradicted by a “paper trail” and corroboration from “multiple agencies and officials.” The senator’s office signaled readiness to release additional material if necessary, stating, “HANDA RIN KAMI ILABAS ANG IBA’T IBANG SCREENSHOT AT VIDEO SA TAMANG PANAHON.”

Hontiveros further raised concerns that the individual may have been “coerced or paid off” in an attempt to derail the ongoing legal cases against Quiboloy. “Disturbingly, [they] threaten my staff and the witnesses who spoke out against Quiboloy’s heinous crimes,” she added.

Calling the latest moves “desperate,” Hontiveros said her team is “preparing our serious legal response against this act of harassment and intimidation.”

“Hindi namin palalampasin ang mga nasa likod ng pananakot na ito,” she concluded.
