Heavy showers and hail hit parts of Sharjah and Abu Dhabi despite high temperatures

On Sunday evening, certain areas in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi experienced heavy rain and hail, even as temperatures in other parts of the UAE soared above 40 degrees Celsius. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) had earlier forecasted generally clear skies with some regions expected to have occasional cloudy periods and possible rain.

According to NCM’s social media updates, Al Shiwayb in Al Ain witnessed heavy rain accompanied by hail, while East Al Madam in Sharjah reported heavy downpours. The NCM also issued a yellow alert for rain, wind, and dust from 1:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., warning of convective clouds, strong winds up to 40 km/h, and reduced visibility in some eastern areas.
