The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather forecast predicting heavy rainfall in the Northern, Eastern, and coastal regions of the country on Monday. Affected areas are expected to include Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman, Al Ain, some parts of Abu Dhabi, and possibly Jumeirah in Dubai.
The country’s weather today will vary from partly cloudy to cloudy, accompanied by light to moderate rain and a noticeable drop in temperatures. The NCM has also issued warnings about increasing humidity overnight and into Tuesday morning, which could lead to fog or light fog in some inland areas.
Winds across the UAE are expected to be light to moderate, with occasional fresh gusts that may carry dust. Sea conditions are also predicted to be rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate to rough in the Oman Sea.
This forecast comes after parts of the UAE, including Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Abu Dhabi, experienced rainfall on Sunday evening. The current weather pattern is attributed to a weak surface pressure system and an upper-level low-pressure system extension, leading to increased cloudiness and precipitation.
In light of the forecast, Abu Dhabi Police has urged drivers to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel during the rainfall, and adhere to safety measures such as obeying speed limits, maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles, and pulling over if visibility is reduced.
