The UAE weather department has issued a red alert for heavy fog formation on Thursday morning, advising motorists traveling towards Dubai from Abu Dhabi on E311 to exercise extreme caution. Dense fog has enveloped the highway, significantly reducing visibility.
Authorities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi have urged drivers to slow down, use fog lights, and maintain a safe distance. In several Abu Dhabi roads, a speed reduction system has been activated, lowering the speed limit to 80 km/h.
The Met Department has warned motorists about “fog formation with a deterioration in horizontal visibility, which may drop even further at times over some coastal and internal areas until 8:30 am on Thursday,” according to Khaleej Times.
UAE residents can expect generally fair weather. The National Metrological Center (NCM) forecasts that Thursday night and Friday mornings will be humid, with a chance of fog or mist, particularly along some western coastal areas.
Winds will be light to moderate, and sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea will be slight. Maximum temperatures in internal areas are expected to rise to 47°C, with minimum temperatures around 26°C. Humidity may climb up to 75%.
