Mussie Imnetu, the Swedish head chef at The Brasserie in Dubai’s The Arts Club, has died after being critically injured in an attack in London, his friends and colleagues confirmed on social media.
According to a Khaleej Times report, Imnetu, 41, was found unconscious with a severe head injury in Queensway, near the Notting Hill Carnival. He was rushed to a hospital but, despite efforts to save him, he passed away.
Massimo Vidoni, a Dubai-based businessman known as the ‘Truffleman’, shared the news on Instagram, stating, “Chef Mussie passed away. RIP Mussie, you will always be remembered. My condolences to the family.”
The Arts Club Board released a statement describing Imnetu as “a dear friend, mentor and master at his craft,” highlighting his kindness and calm demeanor. The club noted, “Mussie’s true light stemmed from his passion and the joy he brought to every day.”
Imnetu, who was visiting London for business, had previously worked at top London restaurants, including Oblix at The Shard and The Savoy Grill. He trained under renowned chefs like Alain Ducasse, Gordon Ramsay, and Marcus Wareing.
A 31-year-old man from Newham has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody as the investigation continues. Authorities are seeking additional witnesses to the attack to aid in the investigation.
