Hawaii’s representative, Meranie Gadiana Rahman, claimed the Mrs. Universe title during the event held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater this past Sunday. The Filipina beauty queen outshone her competitors to take the crown, marking a significant achievement in the pageant’s 46-year history.
India’s contestant secured the position of first runner-up, followed closely by representatives from the Philippines and Black Sea.
Rahman, originally from Cagayan de Oro City, has resided in Hawaii for several years. Upon securing her victory, an emotional Rahman spoke to Philstar about her journey. “I’ve competed for the last five years, facing both wins and losses. Yet, each setback only fueled my determination to achieve my dream,” she said.
Rahman’s victory is particularly noteworthy as she is the first Filipina to win the Mrs. Universe title in its 46 years of existence. “Words cannot express my gratitude. It’s truly overwhelming,” she shared.
In addition to her recent achievement, Rahman, a former print model, also showcased her talents on the Mrs. World stage in 2021.
