The Hatta Border Crossing has marked a major achievement, witnessing nearly four million people pass through its gates in 2023. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai confirmed this milestone to Khaleej Times, highlighting the border’s vital role in facilitating travel between the UAE and Oman.
The impressive figure reflects the burgeoning economic activity in the region, driven by the Dubai government’s initiatives to transform Hatta into a key tourist and commercial destination. Colonel Dr. Rashid Obaid Al Ketbi, director of the Land Ports Passport Control Department, emphasized the border crossing’s diverse service to various groups, including tourists and pilgrims undertaking Hajj and Umrah.
The Hatta Border Crossing has not only accommodated a large volume of travelers but also experienced a significant uptick in the transit of trucks and commercial tankers. This increase underscores the port’s contribution to enhancing land transportation and trade efficiency between the UAE and Oman.
Colonel Al Ketbi reassured that the department would continue to uphold high standards in processing travel documents, ensuring a smooth experience for travelers and commercial carriers alike.
