Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque fired back at the Marcos administration on Wednesday, accusing officials of spreading false information regarding his asylum status and whereabouts.
Roque directly refuted Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla’s earlier claim that his asylum request in the Netherlands had been denied. “That’s simply not true,” Roque said, adding that he had temporarily traveled to Germany for a pre-scheduled activity but has since returned to the Netherlands.
In a biting remark, Roque said the government doesn’t need to waste public funds to find him. “Marcos Jr. does not need billions of pesos of confidential and intelligence funds to track my location. Just check my Facebook account,” he stated.
The former Palace official has been in the spotlight after being named in a DOJ-filed qualified human trafficking case tied to the controversial POGO hub Lucky South 99 in Pampanga. A court has already issued an arrest warrant against him and several others.
Justice Secretary Remulla earlier said that once Roque’s passport is canceled, he could be arrested as an undocumented alien through Interpol. But Roque insists that the narrative coming from the administration is misleading and politically charged.
