Former Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque strongly criticized the recent raid conducted by around 2,000 Philippine National Police (PNP) officers at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City to serve an arrest warrant for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and other individuals.
On Saturday, August 24, PNP personnel entered the KOJC compound to execute the warrant.
“We strongly condemn the armed police raid on the Kingdom of Jesus Christ Compound early this morning,” Roque said in a statement. He emphasized the inappropriate use of police resources, stating, “Instead of using thousands of police officers to find missing children and maintain order amidst rampant crimes in the Philippines, they are in Davao City chasing one man.”
Roque also stressed that Quiboloy is not a terrorist, describing the members of KOJC as peaceful citizens. He criticized the actions of law enforcement, saying, “There is no law being followed under the New Philippines. What they are doing is unjust and against the due process of issuing a warrant.”
Roque called on President Bongbong Marcos to intervene, urging, “I call on the President to end this madness and restore sanity in society.”
In a separate statement, Roque argued that under the ‘New Philippines’ of PBBM, human rights have been disregarded. “An arrest warrant is not a license for a widescale invasion and takeover, especially of religious property! In the New Philippines, human rights have been ignored! #ProtectThePeople,” he said.
