‘Green Bones’ enters race for Philippines’ 2026 Oscar entry

GMA Pictures’ acclaimed film Green Bones has officially joined the shortlist for the Philippines’ 2026 Oscar submission, the studio announced Friday.

On social media, GMA Pictures described the movie as “a story worth sharing with the world — reminding us that even in the darkest places, humanity endures. Green Bones challenges us to look deeper and question our ideas of justice and redemption.”

The film, starring Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid, will compete against six other Filipino titles: Food Delivery, Sunshine, Hello Love Again, Magellan, Song of the Fireflies, and Some Nights I Feel Like Walking. “We also extend our warmest congratulations to the 6 other incredible films in contention. It’s an honor to stand alongside such world-class Filipino cinema,” the company added.

Green Bones first gained attention as GMA Pictures’ official entry to the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival, where it swept major awards including Best Picture, Best Actor for Trillo, and Best Supporting Actor for Madrid.

Now, its momentum continues as it eyes Hollywood’s biggest stage.
