Gordon Ramsay reveals skin cancer surgery, urges fans to wear sunscreen

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has revealed that he recently underwent surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer.

On Instagram, Ramsay posted a photo showing a bandage beneath his ear and later shared a picture of the scar from the procedure. “Grateful and so appreciative for the incredible team at The Skin Associates and their fast reactive work on removing this Basal Cell Carcinoma,” he wrote, adding a heartfelt “Thank you.”

The Michelin-starred chef also used the moment to remind his millions of followers about sun safety, writing: “Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend.”

According to Healthline, basal cell carcinoma develops as tumors on the skin’s surface and often appears as bumps, red patches, growths, sores, or scars. While it is one of the most common skin cancers, it is typically treatable when detected early.

Ramsay has faced other health scares this year. In June, he was involved in a cycling accident in Connecticut, where he emphasized the importance of helmet use. Earlier in January, he traveled to the Philippines to open his first restaurant in the country, Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill in Pasay City.

Best known for his fiery personality and world-renowned restaurants—including Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London and Le Pressoir d’Argent in Bordeaux—he continues to expand his global culinary empire across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
