Goodbye, UAE summer? Suhail star promises temperature drop

As the scorching summer continues to test our endurance, there’s finally a glimmer of hope on the horizon.

The much-awaited Suhail Star is expected to make its appearance on August 24, heralding the arrival of cooler days in the desert.

According to local folklore, the sighting of the Suhail Star, usually occurring in the second half of August, signifies the impending relief from the relentless heat.

Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, the chairman of the board of directors of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, has confirmed that the star will be visible in the UAE during the last week of August.

The Arabian Peninsula is set to witness the grand spectacle of the Suhail star on Thursday, August 24. Its presence will mark the beginning of decreasing heat intensities in mid-August, offering much-needed respite to residents.

But don’t expect an immediate plunge in temperatures. After the star’s sighting, it may take around 70 to 80 days before the significant cooling effects are felt across the region.
