Chennai customs officials have recently apprehended a passenger arriving from Dubai with a significant quantity of gold concealed in his luggage. Vikneshvaran Raja was intercepted at Chennai airport due to his suspicious behavior, leading to a thorough inspection of his baggage.
Upon examination, customs officers discovered approximately 3.99 kilograms of gold hidden inside a coffee maker. The gold, valued at Rs26 million (Dh1,140,716), was seized under the Customs Act of 1962.
Following the discovery, Raja was arrested and is currently in judicial custody.
