Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who have established successful businesses in the Philippines are encouraged to showcase their achievements through the upcoming 2024 Inspiring Balik-Bayan Awards. Organized by Go Negosyo, the event celebrates the accomplishments of entrepreneurial OFWs and aims to inspire similar aspirations among others.
Scheduled for December 7 at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, the annual event will gather industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and OFWs. Attendees will have the chance to participate in discussions, learning sessions, and free on-site mentorship from Go Negosyo mentors to assist with current or planned business ventures.
The event will feature plenary sessions to guide OFWs looking to start or expand their businesses. Former OFW entrepreneurs will share the obstacles they overcame when building enterprises overseas, while returning OFWs will discuss their experiences transitioning to entrepreneurship in the Philippines. Insights on leveraging content creation and social media for business growth will also be shared.
Exhibitor booths will showcase companies offering business opportunities and financing options for interested OFWs and their families. Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion highlighted the event’s goal, stating, “Balik-Bayan is a platform to provide business opportunities and foster investment matches for OFWs, encouraging them toward entrepreneurship and ensuring that their hard work and resources are put to productive and profitable use.”
In 2023, 13 OFWs and their families received the Inspiring Balik-Bayan Award across categories such as Inspiring Balik-Bayan-Turned-Entrepreneur and Inspiring Balik-Bayan-Turned-Influencer.
