A new collaboration is stirring in the Philippine entertainment industry after top executives of GMA Network and ABS-CBN recently met with First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
The Sparkle GMA Artist Center revealed the meeting through an Instagram post on Friday, August 15, accompanied by photos of the First Lady with network leaders. “Something big is brewing in the Philippine entertainment scene,” the post read. “Meeting for an exciting project. Stay tuned!”
Those present included GMA Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes, Sparkle First Vice President & Head Joy Marcelo, ABS-CBN President & CEO Carlo Katigbak, and ABS-CBN COO Cory Vidanes.
This latest development follows a series of groundbreaking collaborations between the two rival networks. In 2023, “It’s Showtime” made history as ABS-CBN’s first noontime show to air on GMA. Earlier this year, the two networks also partnered for “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition Collab,” marking the show’s 20th anniversary and its debut on GMA.
For her part, the First Lady has been vocal about her support for Philippine cinema. She previously encouraged the public to champion local films and attended the 2025 Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) in Los Angeles, where she highlighted the importance of showcasing Filipino talent on the global stage.
