Singer Gigi De Lana has announced the death of her mother, who passed away on the evening of May 14, 2024. On her Facebook page, Gigi shared her grief with her followers by posting photos of her mother, including some from her last moments in the hospital.
“Salamat sa lahat ng dasal niyo kay mama. She passed away at 9:19 pm May 14, 2024,” Gigi revealed in her post. She expressed her deep affection and final farewell by adding, “Mahal na mahal kita mama. Pahinga ka na.”
The news has prompted an outpouring of support from fans and fellow celebrities alike. On Instagram, where Gigi posted additional photos, messages of condolence filled her feed. Darren Espanto commented, “Condolences, Ate,” while Ogie Alcasid offered “Hugs and prayers gigi.”
Earlier, during a performance, Gigi had shared her regrets about not spending more time with her mother, urging her fans, “And please love your family kasi sila lang ‘yung nandiyan para sa inyo.” This emotional appeal highlighted the singer’s difficult time as her mother battled health issues in the ICU.
Gigi’s relationship with her mother and her mother’s health have been focal points in her recent life, especially following an incident last year when she had to cancel a performance in Nueva Ecija due to a vehicular accident on the way to Ilocos Norte. The accident had significant repercussions, leading to Gigi collapsing on stage and the cancellation of subsequent shows.
