Giant saltwater crocodile Pangil dies at around 90 years old

One of the Philippines’ largest saltwater crocodiles, Pangil, has passed away at around 90 years old. The Davao Crocodile Park & Zoo confirmed his death on January 25, 2025, due to complications from metastatic squamous cell carcinoma.

Despite undergoing medical treatments and surgery, the cancer had already spread, resulting in multi-organ failure, the park management announced on Friday.

Pangil was among the country’s most well-known crocodiles, living for nearly a century before his passing.
