When passion meets purpose, it creates an impact that reaches far beyond the classroom — and that’s exactly what defines Mark Gerald Candido Jore, the newly crowned Grand Winner of Dakilang Manggagawang Pilipino sa UAE (DMP) 2025.
An Inclusion Specialist and a proud Capiznon, Jore has spent the last ten years in the UAE transforming challenges into opportunities to serve, teach, and inspire. Behind his warm smile and quiet determination lies a story that reflects the resilience and faith of thousands of Overseas Filipino Workers — one of sacrifice, perseverance, and devotion.
From nurse to educator: finding his true calling
Mark left the Philippines at 21, carrying with him a dream to give his parents a better life and to make them proud. As an only child, the decision to leave home was far from easy, but he believed it was the right step toward a more meaningful future.
Originally a Registered Nurse, Mark shifted careers to follow what he calls his “true vocation” — teaching. While pursuing his studies, he took on multiple part-time jobs as a waiter, event staff, and tutor for children with special needs. These experiences taught him how to balance work, study, and service — lessons that became the cornerstone of his professional and personal growth.
“Every hardship is a step closer to the dream,” he shared in his reflection, recalling the nights he juggled classes and jobs while completing his Master’s degree and preparing for board exams.
A Filipino educator shaping inclusive classrooms
As a Special Education Teacher in Dubai, Mark discovered his mission was more than just teaching — it was about empowering students with diverse needs and breaking barriers in education.
He takes pride in representing Filipino educators in international schools, showing that Filipino teachers can excel globally with their hard work, compassion, and adaptability. His work has inspired colleagues and students alike, becoming a living reminder that greatness is not measured by status, but by the impact one leaves on others.
Through his role as an Inclusion Specialist, Mark promotes equal opportunities in learning and helps create classrooms where every child feels seen and supported — regardless of ability.
Grounded in faith and community
Beyond the classroom, Mark’s journey is deeply rooted in his faith. A devout Roman Catholic, he has long been active in Singles for Christ and Kids for Christ, where he once taught children about values and spirituality. “That ministry strengthened my relationship with God,” he said, describing how faith has anchored him through the toughest moments of being an OFW.
His dedication to service also extends to the Filipino community in the UAE. Mark serves as an officer of the Filipino International Teachers Society and a Volunteer Resource Person for the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE-UAE). He offers free mentorship and review sessions to aspiring teachers, sharing both knowledge and motivation.
Back home in the Philippines, he supports educational and charitable causes through organizations such as the Borres Youth Leadership Institute, JCI Roxas Sinadya, and DepEd Brigada Eskwela — believing that success is best measured by how many lives one uplifts.
Strength through family and purpose
For Mark, family remains his greatest source of strength. As an only child working far from home, he ensures that every effort and achievement reflects his love and gratitude for his parents. “I am their provider, companion, and inspiration,” he said.
Winning Dakilang Manggagawang Pilipino sa UAE 2025 is more than a personal victory for him — it symbolizes the countless sacrifices made by OFWs worldwide. To Mark, this recognition is a reminder that faith, humility, and perseverance can carry anyone through life’s hardest seasons.
“I believe I deserve this not for the trophy, but for the story it represents,” he shared. “It’s a story of sacrifice, passion, and faith — of leaving home to start anew, and choosing to succeed not only for myself but for my family, my community, and my country.”
