A German national has been handed a six-month jail term followed by deportation after being convicted of verbally and physically attacking a female police officer in Dubai.
According to a Khaleej Times report, the incident took place on April 15, 2024, at the criminal investigations office of Bur Dubai Police Station, where the 43-year-old woman had gone to report a theft. Tensions rose when she became irate during a conversation with a second lieutenant, using offensive language and later escalating to physical assault, as confirmed by a medical report detailing the officer’s injuries.
A witness at the scene, another officer, testified that the confrontation began when a man entered the room regarding an unrelated case. This appeared to aggravate the defendant, who then directed insults at the officer before attacking her.
The defendant claimed self-defense, alleging she was slapped first, and submitted a medical report citing psychological concerns. However, the court found no evidence to support her allegations or suggest mental incapacity that could excuse her actions.
The court ruled that her behavior constituted a violation of UAE law, emphasizing that both verbal abuse and assault against an on-duty public servant are serious offenses. The woman will serve her sentence before being deported.
