Gerald Anderson, actor and longtime member of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), recently marked a significant milestone as he was promoted to the rank of auxiliary captain. The announcement was made by Anderson himself on Thursday, November 14, through an Instagram post in which he expressed heartfelt gratitude for the honor.
“I am deeply honored and humbled,” Anderson stated, emphasizing the importance of the promotion to him. He extended special thanks to Senator Robin Padilla, who played a crucial role in supporting the promotion. “Salamat Senator Robin Padilla for passing the resolution for this promotion. Napakalaking bagay para sa akin ang iyong paghanga sa aking nagawa. Gagamitin ko ito para lalong ma-inspire ang ating kabataan,” he shared.
Anderson also showed appreciation for the PCG and his loved ones. “Salamat sa aking Philippine Coast Guard family sa promotion na ito at sa walang sawang suporta sa aking mga endeavors. Sa family and friends ko, salamat sa pagpunta and support,” he added.
The actor’s promotion ceremony was attended by his girlfriend, Julia Barretto, her mother Marjorie, and Anderson’s father, Gerald Randolph Anderson Sr., underscoring the strong support from his family and close circle.
A dedicated member of the PCG since 2016, Anderson is part of the K9 Squadron, a unit in which Barretto has been involved since 2021. His commitment to service was further recognized last August when he received the PCG Search and Rescue Medal for his contributions during the flooding caused by the southwest monsoon and Typhoon Carina in July.
