Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson courageously waded through deep floodwaters to rescue a stranded family in Quezon City.
During the heavy rains caused by Typhoon Carina, which was intensified by the southwest monsoon, Gerald did not hesitate to help a family stranded in Barangay Sto. Domingo. A video circulating on social media shows the actor braving chest-deep water to enter a flooded house.
Once inside, Gerald secured several belongings before carrying a child to safety, along with the other trapped family members.
According to Rachelle Joy Cabayao, who uploaded the video, her sibling sent her the footage. She mentioned that the family had been waiting for nearly three hours for assistance before Gerald’s group arrived to help.
“At around 11 a.m., they asked for help from the barangay, but there was no response. They tried again, but there were no available boats. By 1:30 p.m., Gerald came to their rescue,” Cabayao told ABS-CBN.
The report also noted that Gerald owns a basketball court in the same barangay.
Netizens praised Gerald’s heroism amid the disaster affecting Metro Manila and nearby provinces. They expressed hope that the actor could continue to assist those affected by Typhoon Carina.
Shortly after the incident, the Metro Manila Council declared the entire National Capital Region under a state of calamity due to the severe impact of Typhoon Carina.
