Gerald Anderson and Julia Barretto have officially ended their relationship, talent agency Star Magic announced on Thursday, closing weeks of speculation about the couple’s status.
“Star Magic confirms that Gerald Anderson and Julia Barretto have mutually decided to end their relationship,” the agency said in a statement released on social media.
It further appealed to the public to respect the decision, stressing that the two actors “are grateful to their fans and friends for the love and support” while cautioning against the spread of “false narratives.”
Rumors about the breakup had been circulating for months, with similar talks emerging as early as June. At the time, Anderson denied any split during an appearance on the news magazine show Tao Po!
The pair went public in March 2021, when Anderson admitted in an interview that he was “happy” with Barretto. The actress followed shortly with an Instagram post referring to him as “my love.” Their romance first made headlines in 2019 after starring together in the film Between Maybes, though both were then in other relationships.
Throughout their time together, Anderson and Barretto were often asked about marriage and spoke confidently about their future. Their breakup now marks the end of one of local showbiz’s most talked-about relationships.
Anderson continues to appear on ABS-CBN’s primetime series Sins of the Father. Barretto, meanwhile, remains active in television, film, and endorsements.
