Gabriela urges Comelec to probe vote discrepancies, demands manual count

Gabriela Women’s Party (GWP) has formally called on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to investigate alleged irregularities in the transmission of votes during the 2025 National Elections, citing significant discrepancies in vote counts.

In a letter addressed to Comelec Chairperson George Erwin M. Garcia, the women’s group highlighted a sudden reduction of 49,614 votes in their tally between 2:03 AM and 2:20 AM on election day, based on data from Comelec’s transparency server, which they believe undermines the credibility of the electoral process.

“The unexplained reduction raises serious concerns about the integrity and transparency of the electoral process,” GWP stated in their letter, signed by Representative Arlene D. Brosas and National Vice-Chairperson Sarah Jane I. Elago.

Further backing their claims, GWP cited data from the National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL), which reported 18,499,817 uncounted votes due to alleged overvoting, with over 3.3 million votes reportedly affecting the party-list category.

In light of these issues, GWP demanded a manual vote count to verify the accuracy of the transmitted results and called for measures to protect marginalized groups from being disenfranchised.

“The credibility of our democratic processes is at stake,” the group emphasized, urging Comelec to take decisive action.
