Fujairah raises child allowance to AED 600 for government employees

A revised human resources framework in Fujairah will lift the monthly child allowance for Emirati government employees to AED 600, alongside expanded social and housing support, as part of a broader update to employment policies for 2025.

The measures are set out in Human Resources Law No. 2, issued for the coming year by Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah. Beyond allowances, the law places emphasis on talent development, merit-based rewards, and clearer promotion pathways for citizens working in government entities.

Workplace flexibility features prominently in the legislation, with formal provisions for remote, part-time, and hybrid arrangements. The framework also embeds priorities around advanced technology, innovation, artificial intelligence, corporate culture, and professional ethics, while reinforcing inclusive hiring through provisions supporting the employment of people of determination.

Details of the law were outlined during an introductory seminar organised by the Human Resources Department – Government of Fujairah at Al Bahar Hotel. The briefing was attended by directors, deputy directors, department heads, section chiefs, and officials tasked with implementing the new rules across government institutions.

According to Noura Al Hindasi, the law introduces a wider range of leave options, including leave to accompany a spouse, participation-related leave, and time off for self-employment activities. Employees are also entitled to up to 10 days of spousal leave within a year, bereavement leave, national service leave, and paternity leave of five days. Maternity leave has been extended to 90 days, with an additional option for 90 days of unpaid child custody leave, while Muslim female employees are granted iddah leave of four months and ten days.

Structurally, the legislation replaces the traditional grade-based pay system with a levels-based salary framework and is accompanied by executive regulations that clarify job performance assessment, as well as the rights and obligations of government employees.
