The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director, Jaime Santiago, has revealed that former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo cut her hair to disguise herself while on the run. Guo, who was dismissed from her position, was arrested by Indonesian authorities in Tangerang City early Wednesday morning.
“She tried to conceal her identity,” Santiago said in a press briefing. “Photos have already been shared by the Indonesian police showing her hair is indeed very short. She had cut her hair to conceal her identity.”
Guo’s arrest comes as she faces multiple charges, including a human trafficking complaint related to a raided POGO hub and a money laundering complaint before the Department of Justice (DOJ). Additionally, a quo warranto petition and a petition to cancel her birth certificate have been filed against her in Philippine courts.
According to Santiago, the capture of Guo highlights the effective coordination between the NBI, Interpol, and Indonesian authorities. “We have indeed proven it, and our coordination with Interpol and the Indonesian police has been excellent,” he stated.
In a video message, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. emphasized that Guo’s arrest should serve as a warning to those attempting to evade justice. “The arm of the law is long and it will reach you,” Marcos said, congratulating law enforcement for their efforts in bringing Guo to justice.
Photos from Indonesian authorities show Guo with significantly shorter hair than before she reportedly left the country in July, suggesting she made the change to avoid detection. Guo, who previously had hair down to the middle of her back, now has it cut to shoulder length.
She is currently in the custody of the Indonesian police, awaiting further legal proceedings.
