From early songwriting to a full album, Isha Ponti begins a new chapter in music

At just 19 years old, Elisha ‘Isha’ Pontanares, known to her rapidly growing fanbase as Isha Ponti, stands out as a rare presence in today’s music landscape: an artist whose depth, sincerity, and creative clarity far exceed her years.

Rooted in family, driven by purpose, and guided by an unwavering love for storytelling, Isha is now set to release her self-titled debut studio album, a deeply personal body of work that marks a defining moment in her young but remarkable career.

For Isha, music has never been just about performance. It is, at its core, storytelling. She began singing at the age of seven and started writing songs by nine, long before most of her peers had discovered their artistic voice. Even then, her instincts leaned toward honesty and emotion, qualities that would later define her sound.

Today, she has written nearly 20 songs, both for herself and for other artists, steadily shaping a creative identity that is distinctly her own.

Isha Ponti is not confined to a single role. She is a singer, songwriter, dancer, rapper, producer, and creative leader, an artist who understands her vision from the inside out. Media outlets have hailed her as ‘Asia’s Pop Sweetheart’, a title earned not through fleeting viral moments, but through consistent artistry and songwriting that resonates across generations.

In 2024, she was honored as ‘Best New Female Artist’ at the Aliw Awards, a prestigious recognition that affirmed her impact both in original music and live performance.

Long before reaching this pivotal chapter, Isha’s talent had already made waves on international stages. She was named Grand Champion of Asia’s Best Singing Competition and earned top awards at the Euro-Talent Festival in the Czech Republic, early milestones that proved she wasn’t just dreaming of a global stage, but actively claiming her place on it.

Her upcoming self-titled album is a milestone not only because it is her first full-length studio release, but because it is entirely her own. The seven-track album features songs she wrote and composed herself, each one carrying a distinct emotional narrative. With titles such as ‘Halika’, ‘Hinga’, ‘Gulong’, ‘Mismo’, ‘Warmth’, ‘Riversky’ and ‘Numero’, the album unfolds like a series of intimate chapters, blending introspection, pop sensibility, poetic imagery, and Isha’s signature storytelling.

More than a collection of songs, the album is a sonic diary of growth, love, resilience, and self-discovery. It reflects Isha’s experiences as a young woman navigating artistry, identity, and connection in an ever-evolving world. This is Isha Ponti declaring, through melody and lyric: “This is who I am.”

The album’s production and arrangements were crafted in collaboration with her frequent creative partner, Adonis Tabanda. His musical sensibility enhances Isha’s compositions, elevating their sound while preserving the emotional core that makes each track deeply personal and authentic.

At the heart of Isha’s journey is her family. Her parents, Alvin and Emeelette Pontanares, have been her steadfast supporters from the very beginning, encouraging her early songwriting, guiding her creative decisions, and standing beside her through every milestone. Isha often credits their belief in her as the foundation of her courage to pursue music that is honest and meaningful.

“I’m grateful for every bit of encouragement,” she shared in an interview, “and I wouldn’t be here without the support of my mom and dad.”

That love and support are quietly woven into every melody she writes and every lyric she sings, forming an invisible but powerful thread throughout her musical narrative.

Beyond the studio, Isha Ponti has built an impressive live performance résumé. She has captivated audiences as a front act for OPM legends, performed original songs in sold-out venues, and co-headlined concerts that spotlight her growing command of the stage. Her performances are not merely showcases of vocal ability, they are invitations into the emotional worlds she creates through music.

Among her most notable appearances is her role as a front act at Nonoy Zuñiga’s 50th Anniversary Concert, ‘Beyond Gold: Songs of a Lifetime’, held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. There, she performed original tracks such as ‘Tangan’, ‘Kabang Kaba’, and ‘Dyahe’, earning strong audience response through her dynamic stage presence. Due to popular demand, she returned for the December repeat of the same show, reaffirming her connection with concertgoers.

She also served as a front act for Marco Sison’s ‘Seasons of OPM’ concert at The Theater at Solaire and appeared as a special guest at ‘All That Sound’ by Chad Borja at the Music Museum.

Her versatility was further highlighted when she performed before a sold-out crowd in her first major concert, ‘The Next Ones’,  directed by the brilliant Calvin Neria, also held at the Music Museum.

These performances were more than opening slots. They placed Isha in front of enthusiastic audiences, expanded her reach, and allowed her to grow alongside established pillars of the Filipino music industry. Each show sharpened her live artistry and strengthened her confidence as a performer charting her own path.

Now, as she prepares to release her self-titled album and step forward as a headlining artist, there is a palpable sense of anticipation, not only among her fans, but across the Filipino music scene. This is not just a debut. It is a calling card from an artist ready to define her own era of OPM, thoughtful, heartfelt, and unapologetically authentic.

As Isha Ponti enters this new chapter, one thing is certain, the world is not just about to hear her music, it is about to feel it.
