When Kim Royce Mantua, or KimiFierce, first set foot in the UAE, he had no intention of staying. It was only after he visited the Dubai Mall that he realized he belonged there. Ten years later, he’s making waves as a Production Coordinator at Boomtown Productions, having worked with Hollywood, Bollywood, and local influencers like Noor Stars, Chris Hemsworth, Pharrell Williams, and Penelope Cruz.
Kim’s journey started as an unexpected opportunity. He arrived in the UAE after his family gifted him a trip to the country to celebrate his graduation.
“I saw myself working here and achieving my dreams in the country,” he recalled.
Back in the Philippines, Kim was a volunteer with the Tugon Rescue organization, helping with relief operations during calamities.
Kim began his career in production when his aunt spoke to the owner of Boomtown Productions about a possible position. With a degree in Psychology and no experience in production, Kim started as an admin assistant. But it wasn’t long before his passion for the industry took over, and he climbed the ranks to become a Production Coordinator.
“I really like dealing with different people. Especially here in Dubai, you will get along with other nationalities,” Kim shared.
“One thing I like about my job is it teaches me to adapt to different personalities and handle stress very well,” he added.
Some of his proudest projects include the “Abu Dhabi Tourism: The Untold Story” and “UAE National Anthem | The World Plays Expo 2020.”
His experience working overseas has made him stronger and more independent.
“The competition here in the UAE is really something I am looking forward to because it makes you eager to do more and know yourself more and what you can do,” Kim explained.
Despite his success, Kim faced some challenges, including being scammed while job hunting. But with the support of his family, he overcame these obstacles and persevered.
“I am thankful that I have a supportive and understanding family. Even on my rough times, they are the ones pushing me and inspiring me not only to work hard but also to be a great individual,” he added.
Kim has big plans for the future. He dreams of establishing a production house in the Philippines that mirrors the quality of Boomtown Productions. He also wants to use his social media presence to spread positivity and make a positive impact on people’s lives.
“I believe laughter will brighten up someone’s day. The ability to have a laugh at ourselves and our mistakes is a virtue,” he explains.
With a wealth of experience under his belt, Kim has some advice for fellow kabayans struggling abroad.
“Don’t let society tell you what to do. Be you! Trust the process and know that you have your own path and duration to achieve your goals,” he advised.
He also encourages people to love themselves, reassess their careers if they’re unhappy, and not settle for less in love.
“Dreams do always come true, just believe and work for it!” he further added.
His journey from dreamer to trailblazer is a testament to the power of passion, determination, and support from loved ones. With a fierce spirit and a heart full of dreams, there’s no doubt that Kim will continue to make waves in the production industry and beyond.
