Makati City has widened the reach of its free medicines program to include over 30,000 residents—specifically senior citizens aged 60 to 69 and registered persons with disabilities (PWDs)—Mayor Abby Binay announced on Friday.
Previously, full monthly supplies of maintenance medicines and multivitamins were reserved for those aged 70 and above. But with the updated program, 15,149 younger seniors and 15,748 PWDs will now also receive complete doses at no cost.
“This enhanced program represents a major step forward in my administration’s commitment to providing accessible healthcare for its most vulnerable residents,” Mayor Binay said.
Residents can access the free medications at Planet Drugstores located in barangay health centers, as well as at Ospital ng Makati (OsMak) and Makati Life Medical Center.
The city government emphasized its dedication to public health, noting nearly five million medical interactions delivered to almost two million individuals since Binay took office. OsMak maintains a 92% recovery rate and offers a broad spectrum of healthcare services.
Makati also continues to support patients with serious illnesses through its Unli Dialysis program—which has helped 32,951 residents since 2017—and the Ambulatory Chemotherapy Program, which has subsidized treatments for over 11,000 cancer patients since its launch in the same year.
