Filipino workers in Dubai visiting the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) can now enjoy a cup of coffee while processing their documents, thanks to the recent addition of free coffee machines among several upgrades aimed at improving their experience.
Migrant Workers Undersecretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay recently led a Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) delegation to MWO-Dubai, where she reviewed ongoing efforts to boost frontline services for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). During the visit, Labor Attaché John Rio Bautista presented key enhancements, including the rollout of an online contract verification system and small but impactful amenities like the complimentary coffee service.
These developments align with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s broader directive to uphold the welfare of OFWs by bringing more responsive, accessible, and compassionate services closer to where they are.
Tutay also visited the OWWA Welfare Office, where she met with distressed OFWs awaiting repatriation. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring their safe return and reintegration. At the same time, she reminded workers to avoid cutting their contracts short for new overseas offers and emphasized the importance of using legal recruitment channels.
“Protecting OFWs means guiding them to make informed decisions and shielding them from exploitative practices,” she said.
