Telecom subscribers across the UAE are receiving sizable data bonuses this week as the country marks its 53rd National Day, with both e& and du unveiling separate promotions for their customers.
The initiative from e& was confirmed on Saturday, giving postpaid users and Emirati prepaid customers access to 53GB of complimentary local data. The allowance is usable within the UAE beginning November 30 and remains valid until December 7. Meanwhile, expatriates on e& prepaid are being offered a 53-percent price cut on online top-ups worth Dh30 or more, valid for three days and applicable to both domestic and international calls.
Du, which had earlier announced its own set of National Day offers, is matching the 53GB giveaway for all postpaid subscribers. Their free national data remains available for a seven-day window and can be claimed until December 4. The company is extending a longer-term benefit to those who have bought or switched to its Prepaid Flexi yearly plans—customers in this group will receive 53GB of national data that stays valid for an entire year, with the promotion open until December 31.
The process for activating the offers varies between the two operators.
For e& customers, the data bonus must be claimed through the e& mobile application. After logging in, a National Day message appears on-screen. Selecting “Know more” reveals the list of available promotions, where tapping “Activate Now” beside the “52GB Free Local Data” listing completes the activation.
Du has set different instructions for each service category. Postpaid users are not required to take any action, as the 53GB is added automatically and remains active until December 4. Prepaid customers, however, need to be enrolled in the Flexi Yearly Plan—either as new subscribers or by switching their current plan via the du app or by dialing 111100#. Once enrolled, the free National Day data can be accessed by signing into the du app, navigating to “Buy Bundle,” selecting “Special Offers,” choosing the “Free 53GB offer,” and tapping “Redeem.” The complimentary data stays valid for 12 months from the time it is claimed, and the redemption option remains available for 30 days after activating the Flexi Yearly Plan before it disappears from the app.
