Four supermarkets closed down for selling rotten meat

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry temporarily shut down four supermarkets in Salmiya, Kuwait, after they were found to be selling rotten and adulterated meat, a clear violation of consumer protection regulations.

During routine inspections, ministry officials discovered a pattern of malpractice among these stores. They were defrosting frozen meat and then falsely advertising it as fresh chilled meat to consumers. Further probes revealed a range of thawed meats of different origins, including frozen liver, pointing to a deliberate deceit by the stores.

Legal actions are underway, and those responsible are anticipated to be prosecuted.

In light of the increasing concerns about adulterated food, the ministry highlighted their continuous vigilance and commitment to ensuring food safety standards are upheld for the well-being of the public.
