Four expatriates from the UAE and Qatar have struck luck in the latest Big Ticket e-draw, each winning a cash prize of Dh50,000. The winners include three residents of Dubai and an expat living in Qatar, all of whom expressed joy and gratitude for their unexpected windfall.
Tamer Abwini, a Jordanian who has been living in Dubai for 21 years, was among the winners. A father of two, Abwini has been purchasing Big Tickets for two years. Overjoyed with his win, he plans to share half of his prize with the colleague who introduced him to Big Ticket. “If I win the Dh15 million, I will give him half of it as well,” he added.
Amran Hyder, a 39-year-old Pakistani resident of Ras Al Khaimah, has been consistently buying Big Ticket entries for nearly five years. For Hyder, the win was a long-awaited dream. “I am happy, surprised, and thankful to Big Ticket. It’s a life-changing opportunity for all of us,” he said. He intends to save his prize money for the future.
Another winner, Mohammad Rashed, a 29-year-old sales manager from Bangladesh living in Dubai, had only been trying his luck for six months before winning. “I don’t have any plans yet as I didn’t expect to win,” he said, advising others not to give up and keep trying their luck.
In Qatar, Fasila Nishad, an English teacher from Kerala, was equally surprised by her win. She and her husband have been buying tickets almost every month for the past five years. Initially shocked by the news, Nishad now plans to use her winnings to build a house in India. “Big Ticket is a dream that can come true at any time, and my message to everyone is to not lose hope,” she said.
