Sharjah police have arrested a gang of four Arab men for stealing 1,840 laptops valued at more than Dh1 million. The suspects were apprehended less than 48 hours after the theft was reported.
According to a Khaleej Times report, the incident occurred when an Asian man, employed by a transport services company, was on his way to deliver the laptops. He was stopped in an industrial area by the gang, who posed as police officers. Realizing he had been scammed, the man reported the fraud to the Sharjah Police Central Operations Room.
“After verifying the information, a team of officers immediately started the investigation,” said Col Abdul Rahman Nasser Al Shamsi, deputy director of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Sharjah Police. “Based on the data they had gathered, they tracked down the suspects and monitored them closely before arresting them and bringing them to justice.”
The swift action of the Sharjah Police led to the quick apprehension of the suspects and recovery of the stolen laptops.
