Forbes Magazine has once again recognized Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, President of Megaworld Corp., as one of the world’s most influential women leaders. Alfonso was named among the prestigious 50 Over 50 Global list, which highlights women proving that age is no barrier to creating lasting impact.
Alfonso, who stepped into her role in June 2024, succeeded billionaire and company founder Andrew Tan. She is currently spearheading Megaworld’s ambitious $6.1-billion expansion plan over the next five years. This undertaking comes amid stiff competition in the real estate market and high borrowing costs, which Forbes noted as significant challenges.
The company’s strategy includes launching two new townships in 2025, spanning over 300 hectares in Luzon and the Visayas, as part of its efforts to expand beyond Metro Manila. Alfonso emphasized that the expansion aims to support regional economic growth and generate jobs, with 69% of Megaworld’s townships already located in the provinces.
This latest accolade follows Alfonso’s inclusion in Forbes’ 20 Outstanding Women Leaders in Asia list last November, which recognized her leadership during a period of global economic uncertainty.
