Fog blankets UAE: Residents advised caution on roads

Residents in various parts of Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi were greeted with thick fog enveloping their surroundings early this morning as the National Centre of Meteorology issued red and yellow alerts across the UAE.

According to authorities, motorists in Dubai encountered foggy conditions on roads including Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Road, Al Minhad, Jebel Ali, Al Faqa, and Expo.

In response to reduced visibility, Abu Dhabi Police urged caution among drivers and implemented variable speed limits displayed on electronic information boards. Speed limits were reduced to 80km/hr on certain roads, including Sweihan road (Sweihan – Al Faya Bridge), Al Taff road (Sweihan – Al Ajban), Mohammed Bin Rashid road (Kizad – Seih Shuaib), and Maktoum Bin Rashid road (Al Smeeh – Seih Shuaib).

The NCM also issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rains in southern regions of the country. Abu Dhabi Police reminded drivers to exercise caution due to rainy weather conditions and adhere to variable speed limits displayed on signs and electronic boards.

Today’s weather forecast from the NCM predicts partly cloudy skies overall, with medium clouds persisting in some areas and a chance of light rainfall in southern parts of the country. Temperatures are expected to increase, with light to moderate winds blowing intermittently. The sea conditions are forecasted to be slight in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate in the Oman Sea.

Temperatures are projected to range from a low of 11ºC in mountainous regions to a high of 35ºC in internal areas.
