Motorists in several parts of the UAE experienced slow-moving traffic on Tuesday morning due to dense fog, with visibility dropping below 1,000 meters in certain areas. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a red alert for severe fog and a yellow alert for misty conditions, urging drivers to exercise caution.
Authorities reduced speed limits to 80 km/h on major roads in Abu Dhabi and advised motorists to follow the changing limits displayed on electronic signs. The fog affected several key areas in Dubai, including Al Maktoum International Airport, Expo, Jebel Ali, and Al Minhad. In Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed International Road, Al Ruwais, and Madinet Zayed were among the affected areas.
Drivers are warned to expect traffic delays on roads like Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road (E311) and Emirates Road due to reduced visibility. With summer nearing its end, temperatures are expected to drop in the coming weeks, with occasional rain and thunderstorms forecasted for some areas of the country.
