Flying this holiday season? PAL lists key reminders for smoother airport trips

As airports brace for heavier passenger volumes during the year-end holidays, Philippine Airlines has released operational reminders aimed at reducing delays and easing passenger movement across its domestic and international network.

The flag carrier urged travelers to make use of its digital check-in options, which are available through the airline’s website and mobile application starting 24 hours and closing one hour before departure. Passengers were also advised to verify that their checked and carry-on items comply with the free baggage allowance tied to their booking class, with all items properly declared during check-in.

Road congestion is expected to intensify in major urban centers, particularly in Metro Manila and Cebu. In response, the airline advised passengers to factor in additional travel time when heading to the airport to avoid missing flights.

Specific arrival times at the airport were also reiterated for the holiday period. For domestic flights departing from NAIA Terminal 2, passengers are encouraged to arrive two to three hours before departure. Those flying internationally from NAIA Terminal 1 are advised to be at the airport at least four hours ahead of their scheduled departure.

Travelers were further reminded to monitor their flight status prior to travel. Updated information can be accessed through the airline’s website by entering flight details under the Flight Status tab, with data available starting two days before departure and refreshed regularly. Passengers were also advised to confirm their assigned terminal and boarding gate and to pay close attention to public announcements in case of last-minute changes.

For international travel, the airline emphasized the importance of carrying complete and valid documentation. Passports must remain valid for at least six months from the date of travel, and the name on the airline ticket must exactly match the passport. Required visas, permits, vaccination records where applicable, and destination-specific documents should be secured in advance. All departing Filipino nationals are likewise required to complete the government-mandated E-Travel registration within 72 hours before departure.

Domestic travelers were reminded to bring a valid government-issued, school, or company ID, and to ensure that the name on the ticket matches the identification presented at check-in and boarding.

For passenger assistance, the airline continues to provide support through its Manila landlines at (+632) 8539-0000 and (+632) 8855-8888, Philippine mobile number (+63) 919-056-2255, a toll-free line in the US and Canada at 1-800-435-9725, as well as its official channels on Messenger, Viber, WhatsApp, and the PAL Help Page.
