Flydubai has announced plans to expand its fleet and workforce, aiming to receive seven new aircraft by the end of 2024 and recruit more than 130 new pilots by the close of this year.
The airline revealed in a WAM report that these additional aircraft will help bolster its network, including new routes to Basel, Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius.
Flydubai’s Chief Executive Officer, Ghaith Al Ghaith, highlighted the airline’s growth, noting, “Flydubai has grown its workforce to over 5,800 skilled professionals from 140 nationalities, including more than 1,200 pilots. We are on track to hire over 130 new pilots by year-end.” He also mentioned that the airline has added more than 440 employees this year, marking a 6% increase from the previous year.
Al Ghaith emphasized the ongoing recruitment efforts to bring in more qualified personnel to support the airline’s expansion. He added, “Flydubai has developed a network of over 125 destinations across 58 countries, serviced by a young and efficient fleet of 88 Boeing 737 aircraft.”
The CEO also pointed out Flydubai’s dedication to Emiratisation, focusing on attracting young Emirati talents and placing them in various roles within the company.
In a significant milestone, Flydubai placed its first-ever wide-body order for 30 Boeing 787-9s at the Dubai Airshow in 2023, marking a pivotal moment in the airline’s history.
