As unstable weather conditions escalate across the United Arab Emirates (UAE), several airlines have warned passengers about potential flight delays. Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways and Flydubai have issued statements indicating possible disruptions to flight schedules, primarily due to heavy rains anticipated on April 15-16.
Etihad Airways reassured passengers that it would collaborate closely with affected guests to accommodate itinerary changes and ensure they reach their final destinations, according to a spokesperson’s statement to Khaleej Times. The airline urged travelers to monitor its website regularly and allocate ample time for airport transit.
Flydubai echoed similar sentiments, advising passengers to arrive at Dubai International (DXB) airport at least four hours before departure to mitigate potential delays. The airline affirmed its commitment to minimizing disruptions and emphasized the importance of monitoring flight statuses online.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued an advisory warning of heavy rains and thunderstorms sweeping across all seven Emirates, with forecasts suggesting intensified weather conditions overnight. Emirates Airline, however, reported no disruptions to its flight schedules as of Monday evening but advised travelers to anticipate delays on roads and plan accordingly.
Given the recent history of flight cancellations and delays caused by heavy rains, including incidents on March 9 where several inbound flights had to be rerouted, airlines are taking proactive measures to ensure passenger safety and convenience amidst the volatile weather patterns.
