A Cathay Pacific flight headed to Hong Kong was forced to return to Boston Logan International Airport shortly after takeoff on Monday, January 20, after smoke was reported in the cabin and cockpit.
Flight CX811 made a precautionary landing at 3:31 a.m., following standard safety procedures, according to airline officials. Data from FlightAware indicated the aircraft circled over Massachusetts Bay before safely touching down.
No injuries were reported among passengers and crew. Airline engineers are currently investigating the incident and inspecting the aircraft.
Cathay Pacific issued an apology to affected passengers and emphasized their commitment to safety. “Safety guides every decision we make. We sincerely apologize to the affected customers for the inconvenience,” a spokesperson said.
