A recreational fisherman in Abu Dhabi has been fined Dh50,000 for surpassing the daily fishing limit, according to the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD). The penalty is part of ongoing efforts to protect marine life and ensure the sustainability of the UAE’s aquatic resources.
In an announcement on Instagram, the agency urged recreational boat owners to comply with fishing regulations, emphasizing the importance of preserving marine biodiversity. Fishing remains a popular activity in the UAE, both for commercial and leisure purposes, but authorities have implemented strict laws to prevent overfishing and protect fish populations.
The UAE enforces seasonal restrictions and science-based management plans to regulate fishing practices. These measures aim to curb illegal and unregulated fishing while supporting the rapid restoration of fish stocks.
